Our Philosophy

Nolabels Studio is a premium barber studio in the heart of Williamstown, Melbourne's west. Built around one uncompromising idea - that every person who sits in our chair deserves to be treated as exactly that. A person. Not a label, not an assumption, not a category.

The world runs on labels. From the moment you're born, systems start categorising you - your suburb, your school, your job, your appearance, your past. Labels are how the world processes people. Efficient. Reductive. And they follow you everywhere.

We started Nolabels Studio because some of us had carried labels we never chose. Others had worn them so long they forgot they weren't theirs. We built this place as a reminder that none of that belongs in the chair.

When you sit down, the labels dissolve. The rest is up to you.

Toni

Born and raised in Melbourne's west. Sick of the bowl cuts his mum was giving him, taught himself to cut and never looked back. From the bathroom floor to behind the chair - it was always going to be this.

Six years in. Fades, tapers, skin fades, scissor work, long lengths - built on versatility and an obsessive attention to detail. The kind of barber who cares about the result as much as you do.

But Nolabels was never just about the haircut. Growing up in the west, he saw firsthand what labels could do to someone - their confidence, their identity, how they carried themselves. So he built a space where none of that exists.

That's the mission. And it doesn't stay inside these walls.

Idrees

Barbering started at home for Idrees - dad's clippers, a quiet frustration of never getting what he asked for, and a decision to just figure it out himself.

What started as a fix became a craft. Friends, classmates, family - it spread naturally. By 2023 he was doing it professionally, refining his technique and learning the deeper side of what makes a great cut.

Idrees also studies Business Strategy and Innovation at university - because for him, the chair and the bigger vision have always gone together.

This is the path he chose. And he hasn't looked back.

Kamal

Kamal grew up in Malang, Indonesia, spending most of his childhood inside a boarding school where the world outside felt out of reach. But even then, he found his thing - giving his mates buzzcuts and line ups with whatever he had available.

Moving to Australia at 15 changed everything. The moment he sat in a proper barber chair, something clicked. Since 2020, he's been relentlessly chasing that feeling - cutting his own hair, his friends' hair, anyone who'd sit still long enough.

Now 21 and part of the Nolabels team, he brings that same hunger to every cut. Self-taught, driven and still proving himself - he's exactly the kind of barber this studio was built for.
